Always use protecting glasses to protect your eyes from bright sun-light, dust and injury. |

Patient having Diabetes, Hypertension and Thyroid disorder should undergo regular ophthalmic checkup. |

Patient with family history of glaucoma should undergo Glaucoma work up every year. |

| 4. |
A child needs eye check up to rule out refractive error (eye number) in following situations; |
| |
Either parent or sibling having refractive error. |
| |
Child moves too close to T.V. for watching. |
| |
Child screws or narrows eyes to see things. |
| |
Frequent headache. |
| |
Making mistakes in copying from black-board. |
| |
Frequent or constant squint (deviation of eye). |
| 5. |
New born baby having constant watering and discharge needs the attention of an ophthalmologist at the earliest. |

| 6. |
Never apply “Kajal” or “Surma” into the eyes of new-born and infants. |

| 7. |
Never splash water into the eyes. It disturbs the natural tears which is so essential for the protection and nourishment of the eye. |

Do not keep touching or rubbing your eyes. |

| 9. |
Do not buy over the counter (OTC) eye drops or use any other eye drops without the advice of an Ophthalmologist. |

In special circumstances like: |

Whenever a foreign body falls into the eye, wash with copious amount of water as a first-aid. |

Whenever a chemical; like alkali or acid fall, wash with water continuously for half an hour and consult the Ophthalmologist immediately. |
